M.O.E Presentation with Mike

On the 26th of May we got given the opportunity to do a presentation alongside Mike from Cayad to (Ministry of education) M.O.E. We were able to share our work and the lived experiences of well-being within our team and the importance of well-being in our workplace. As a result, they were able to take away the use of our indigenous design thinking tool which is the Hautu Waka and our wellbeing model Te Whare Tapa Wha to include into their spaces of mahi.

We met at a place within botanical gardens when we first entered it was awkward, the ladies were all invested in our presentation. Mike spoke about community action youth and drugs. I spoke about how we simplified how might we enable rangatahi to have mana Motuhake and be co-creators of the new inclusive green economy. J’vaan then spoke more on how might we increase the number of maori and pasifika rangatahi into higher value green career pathways. Rereahu spoke on the indigenous design tools that we have implemented into our work and how effective it is and Benny spoke about opening the space when it comes to our well-being, check-ins and how it created a safe space for rangatahi.

We managed to hear their thoughts, insights and questions they had for us that made us realise how important it is when it comes to making others aware of the work, we do in a way others can take something away with them and incorporate it within their own workplace.

By the time it came to the end, everyone gathered around each other and started having kai along with sharing how impactful the work we do and how we should continue our mahi and how it’ll lead to big changes not only for ourselves but our youth and wider community.
