Enabling Whānau and Community-Led Leadership and Decision Making
In this session we were incredibly fortunate to welcome the legendary Kaye-Maree Dunn (Te Rarawa, Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Kahu ki Whangaroa, Ngāti Mahanga, Ngāi Tamanuhiri, Ngāti Kahungunu) as our kaikōrero.
In conversation with Sophia Beaton (Kāti Māmoe, Kāi Tahu) from Hikitia! - Te Taitokerau, Kaye-Maree shares insights from her papakāinga mahi about what it looks like to equip and support whānau and hapū leadership, local governance, and decision-making in practice.
Kaye-Maree Dunn is co-founder and Kaiwhakahaere of MEA - Making Everything Achievable - an Indigenous social impact firm. Kaye-Maree’s mission is to lift the capability of whānau, hapū and iwi to grow their collective prosperity through Indigenous-centred capital flow, design and technology.
A visual summary of the session, completed by the super talented Jacqui Chan, can be viewed and downloaded below. A copy of Kaye Maree’s slides can also be found below. The video Kaye-Maree shares on her papakāinga can be viewed here.
